Messenger: An Untapped Digital Marketing Tool!

Facebook Messenger is one of the most popular messaging platforms. More than 1 billion users use it worldwide, exchanging more than 22 million GIFs a day and 17 billion photos per month! Even more remarkable is the fact that every month more than 1 billion messages are exchanged between users and businesses!

The company has shown that it is constantly investing and developing its popular application by introducing new capabilities and tools at regular intervals, whether for ordinary users or businesses.

How can a Brand then exploit a messaging application and use it as a marketing tool? What are the possibilities that Messenger offers and how can you use them?

# 1 Build your communication strategy around Facebook Messenger

Direct communication with the customer is one of the most meaningful possibilities offered by Social Media! The user does not hesitate to send a message on a business page no matter what the time is. In fact, at a very high rate, users expect immediate responses without worrying about them if you may not be available at that time. Statistics show that the sooner Brands respond to messages, the more likely the user is to complete a purchase of them.

So, if you have the time, the ability and the willingness to invest in direct communication with your customers then it is an excellent solution to build your strategy around it.

Start by recording all the communication channels you use online. Channels include all the means by which you communicate with your Brand. It can be your website, your Blog, a YouTube channel, your Social Media pages, a page hosting an article about your Brand, etc.

Next, consider how you could invite users from the channel to contact you. For example, if you write articles in a Blog, you can invite the reader to send you a message to Messenger at the end of each article to ask for help or more information. On your YouTube channel, you could display messages during the video, which invite the user to contact you in Messenger.

Whichever channel you choose to implement your strategy, it's important to give instant access to your Messenger account by placing either a link linking to your Facebook Page or directly to Messenger (more to # 2). It is equally important to view the benefits that a user will have if they communicate with you via Messenger. Use smart Call-To-Action (CTA) to stimulate interest.

"Contact us on Facebook Messenger for instant answers to your questions!"

"We are Online on Facebook Messenger! Send us your message!"

"Send us your queries to Facebook Messenger! We'll even answer 3 after midnight (most of the time)"

Let your imagination be free and customize the message according to your Brand Voice or the audience you are addressing, and make sure to emphasize on every occasion the service you offer through Messenger!

# 2 Create a Messenger Code

For each Facebook Page you have the ability to create a unique Messenger Code. It is a function that resembles our well-known QR Codes and Barcodes, but concerns only the ability to instantly communicate a user with your Brand via Messenger.

To create your own password, just go to your Facebook Page and select the Messages tab (see the guide below). In the tab that opens you, under the message list you will see the i symbol. Tap to display the window with your Messenger Code, and then click "Download". It will display the 3 different dimensions in which you can download the file. If you do not know what you need, download it with 1000 pixels.

Messenger Code can be "scanned" too easily by any user through the Messenger application with the "Scan Code" option. Therefore, you can place it on any printed material you want, so that you can communicate directly with you through Messenger interested parties. You can also post it as a photo on your Facebook Page to let users know more about this ability to communicate with you.

When a user scans your Messenger Code, they automatically open a Contact window with your Brand. He can see your hours directly, take a look at your Facebook Page profile for more information, or of course send you a message that's the right thing to do.

# 3 Create a Messenger Link

Messenger Link is a solution for users to communicate with you quickly and easily. It's actually a link where, when users click or tap, they automatically lead them to Facebook Messenger to send you a message.

To create your own Messenger Link, just follow these simple steps:

Go to your Facebook Page. In the address bar, you will see the Facebook link and next to the name of your Facebook Page. For example, if you visit our Facebook Page page, you'll see that the address bar shows this: https://www.facebook.com/Darkpony.Ltd/ So the name of our Facebook Page is: Darkpony.Ltd

All you have to do is add your page name behind the following link: fb.me/msg/

For example, our Messenger Link is: fb.me/msg/Darkpony.Ltd. By clicking on the link, you will see how it will automatically direct you to Facebook Messenger and will open a new tab to contact us. In the same way, if your Facebook Page link is for example TeleiaKosmimata, then your Messenger Link will be: fb.me/msg/TeleiaKosmimata

Use it on all your social networking posts and not just to encourage users to reach you!

# 4 Create an Instant Replies

There are occasions when they can send you a message some time when you are not available. However, since no user wants to wait for hours without even answering a formal answer such as "Good evening, there is no one available at the moment", there is the magical solution of instant automatic answers!

You can create your own automatic messages, which are sent as a response whenever someone sends you a message to Messenger. To do so, follow these steps:

Go to your Facebook Page, then select the Settings tab. Click "Messages" in the list on the left, then click "Go to section" next to the "Answering Assistant".

The first option is the response rate displayed on your Facebook Page. Having this option turned on, any delay in responding to personal user messages will not counteract the response rate. This is true, of course, only if and as long as a webmaster is not online at this time.

The second option (Change) allows you to create / modify the message a user receives when they send you a message to Messenger in hours you are not online.

The third option allows you to send an automatic message whenever you receive a private message whether you are logged in or not. If you choose to turn it on, it will show you the Change button to modify the message as you wish.

The fourth option allows you to enable the sending of an automatic message whenever a user opens a Messenger window to communicate with your Page. The message is sent directly, without the user having to send you a message.
